The Towe Auto Museum is proud to partner with the California State Fair this year to present visitors with a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with vehicles that have earned celebrity status! During the 2008 California State Fair, the Towe Auto Museum will host a special exhibit of a variety of “star cars” located in three exhibit spaces throughout the Fair grounds. Cars on exhibit in the Cal Expo Grandstand:
- 1916 Maxwell Model 25 once owned by Universal Studios and used in the production of the Jack Benny television show of the 1950’s
- 1930 Model AA Truck featured in the films, Murder in the First and Mobsters
- 1932 Ford “Hardtop” raced in 1955 – 1956 by A.J. Foyt
- 1933 Lincoln KB owned by A.P. Giannini, the founder of Bank of America
- 1941 Bantam Reconnaissance Car (BRC-40)
- 1943 Ford “Jeep”
- 1956 Cadillac Eldorado owned by actress Rita Hayworth
- 1960 Jaguar Mark IX Saloon Sedan owned by both the Pointer Sisters and baseball great Reggie Jackson
- 1984 Ford Mustang Convertible owned by teen heart throb and television star Ricky Nelson
- 1987 money green Lamborghini Countach 5000SQV owned by Malcolm Forbes, publisher of Forbes Magazine

2008 marks the 50th anniversary of the Edsel. Can’t get enough of this unique car? Visit the Towe Auto Museum before August 31, 2008 to see the special exhibit titled Right Time, Wrong Car: The Edsel – Detroit’s Belly Flop, where there are a variety of unique and extremely rare Edsels on display. 2008 marks the 100th anniversary of the Ford Model T. To celebrate this milestone, the Towe Auto Museum is proud to host Mr. Ford’s Legendary Model T: Car of the Century, a weekend celebration and four month exhibit commemorating Tin Lizzie’s 100th anniversary. Both the opening weekend and exhibit will celebrate the historical, technological and legendary importance of the Model T Ford. The centennial exhibit will run September 12, 2008 – December 2008. These displays of vintage, collectible, noteworthy & otherwise unique motor vehicles, represent just a small portion of the over 160 vehicles on exhibit at the Towe Auto Museum. The Towe Auto Museum’s mission is to preserve, promote and teach automotive culture which is alive and well in Sacramento and the surrounding areas. Car clubs and associations throughout the region represent various years, makes, and genres that illustrate Sacramento’s unique motor vehicle culture. From vintage automobiles, to hot rods, to luxury vehicles, there is a car club for everyone! Each day during the fair, the “star cars” exhibit will be enhanced by various car clubs who will exhibit their members’ vehicles in tents in front of the Grandstand.
